“Last year’s Everest expedition was a tremendous success and we plan trump it with even more student participation and fundraising this year,” said Elia Saikaly. “The most inspiring part of these expeditions is to witness thousands of students working together achieving their goals and learning valuable lessons about reaching their potential in the process.”
The six students joining Saikaly and his team in Africa are Rima Sanallah Alexandre Labranche, Kendra Paul, Lindsey Gresham, Scott Pardoel Gibson and Roger Collins. They were all selected through a FindingLife.ca Facebook contest.
The adventure will also be the subject of research and analysis carried out by expedition co-lead and University of Ottawa Professor Norm O’Reilly on the impact the experience will have on the students’ lives in the short and long-term.
