FindingLife founder Elia Saikaly has been involved in over 16 global expeditions including scaling five of the seven summits and two successful ascents of Mt. Everest. Both times, he shared his journey in real-time with over 20,000 students across North America through the FindingLife platform. In response to an interactive student request Elia even managed to dance on top of the world!
By combining education, technology, adventure and community engagement we are able to create unforgettable student experiences that makes learning the adventure it was meant to be.
In 2011, in partnership with the University of Ottawa, Dr. Norm O’Reilly and the Moving Mountains Trust, Elia Saikaly created and co-led an expedition to Kenya where six high school students and two University students paired up with Kenyan students and climbed Mt. Kenya – an expedition financially supported by Garnier. Thousands of students followed along from the safety of their classrooms and helped raise money to build classrooms in Kenya. The entire expedition was shared in real-time.
In 2011 Elia also created the Cho Oyu Challenge with friend and colleague Khiery Sammakieh – an ascent of the 6th highest mountain on Earth in Tibet that encouraged students to take on challenges in their own lives.
In 2013 FindingLife partnered with ePals Classroom Exchange and shared a Mt. Everest journey with ePals’ global community.
